1999 Annual Convention

Our spring convention that year had the theme ‘’Reaching for the stars’’ it was help in the House Of Commons. Our speakers included Jessica Huntley of Bogle L’Overture (publishers), Joan Anim-Addo head of the Caribbean Centre, Goldsmiths University. Other speakers included Pinky Lillani and Joy Nichols, CEO of Nichols Employment Agency. Over 300 people attended.


The first discussion was about Europe and the single currency. It was address by the new minister for Small Business, Michael Wills MP and Trevor Williams, a senior economist at Lloyds TSB.

Global Business

The second discussion of the series was on export and doing business internationally. He speakers included Eric Magson of British Trade International, Bernadette Ijeh of La Benimure Elegance Limited (a successful exporter), Tetteh Kofi of Focus Consultancy and Clive Williams, director of a computer company Sho-Net.

Business Start Up

The final discussion meeting of the series was about business start-ups. The speakers included the business consultant Beverly Provost MBE, Dele Ogun, partner-manager of a firm of solicitors and Elsa Redwood of the North London Business Development Agency. This was a particularly well attended discussion.
