2000 Annual Convention

This year’s annual convention had as its theme ‘’Success in Business’’. It was held at the House of Commons. Our speakers included Ms. Val Barnard of the RAP Consultancy, Ms Jessica Huntley of Bogle L’oventure, Miss Beverley East an American businesswoman and our star speaker Miss Kanya King, Founder and the Chief Executive Officer of the MOBO Awards.

Health and Beauty Special

In response to request from our members, we held a special seminar on a health matters. The speakers included Natasha Miller, an image consultant, Sherry Dixon the beauty editor of Pride magazine and a GP, Dr. R. Channer.

 Meeting the Ministers

As part of our regular programme of meetings with government ministers we arranged a round table meeting for our members with the minister for small business and E-Commerce, Patricia Hewitt MP

Self Development

A number of Black Women Mean Business members were expressing an interest in self development issues. So in 2000 for the first time we held a discussion group around self development. It was led by a Black Women Mean Business member, Jenifer Joseph who runs Optimistic, a life training and management agency. And it was held in the congenial surroundings of the Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Shop in the West End of London.
